tipping kilimanjaro porters and guides


Day information
All information for the day you will get after dinner by your mountain guide. Ask about if something is not clear.

Ascent / Premature termination
During the ascent you will be accompanied by our Swiss mountain guide as well as several local guides. In premature termination on the approach route and the climb you will always be accompanied by a local guide. Thus, security is always guaranteed.

Meals on Kilimanjaro
Our guides will prepare a local English breakfast. For lunch, you get sandwiches and fruit, also in the Horombo hut is a small lunch, prepared dinner includes a soup, main course and rich fruit for dessert. We recommend that the daily lunch and for the summit ascent additionally take on what you can not do without this journey would like, such as dried fruit, dried meat, cheese, chocolate, cookies, bars, dextrose, etc. Drinks: Daily Tea is for go prepared and also on arrival at the huts and tea for dinner is provided. Visa
Kenya:
Swiss and EU citizens need a visa to travel to Kenya. This can be obtained directly at the entry to (USD 25.00 per visa in cash).

Tanzania:
Swiss and EU citizens require a visa for Tanzania. This can be obtained directly at border crossings (U.S. $ 50.00 per visa in cash). Members of other nations in due time, please contact us.

Fare
Kenya:
During their stay at beach hotel you can write everything in the room and in the end pay by credit card or USD.

Tanzania:
As travel money, we recommend USD in small bills and credit cards. For climbing, you can change the hotel in Marangu Tanzania shilling against USD. On safari, you can pay in U.S. dollars or in part with credit card. Please note that credit card payments partially additional commissions are charged. Please consult with your credit card company.

Tip
Kilimanjaro:
Kilimanjaro to tip the porters and guides is included. Offered for a beer festival on the carrier at the end of the trip, however, is very welcome. Functional clothes (in good condition), shoes and backpacks are also hard on the support gratefully received.

On Safari / on the beach:
If you were satisfied with the performance of the safari driver, a tip of USD 15 is - per participant attached. Please give this to the driver in person on the last safari. Vaccinations
The visit to the doctor or tropical Tropical Institute is inevitable. You need an international vaccination certificate. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory, recommended malaria prophylaxis and hepatitis A. Please contact the doctor after the date on other vaccinations.

Luggage
Total weight max. 20 kg plus hand luggage. During the journey we have set up two baggage depots. The one in Marangu (during the Kilimanjaro climb) and the other in Arusha (on safari). There you can deposit each part of your luggage.

Photo and film material
Take enough with footage. In place it is difficult to obtain and sometimes more expensive than in Switzerland.

Electricity and telephone
In Kenya and Tanzania, the current voltage is 220 V (2-pin plug). During the Kilimanjaro climb and in the Ngorongoro Crater, you have no way to charge your electronic devices. We recommend that you bring plenty of spare batteries. The mobile phone has reception on the whole trip. The code in Switzerland is the 00041st Please note that the cost is very high.

Insurance

Customs
You can bring duty-free: 250 grams of tobacco, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars, 1 liter of alcoholic beverages. For the performance of passport, visa and customs regulations, the trip participants are responsible. The passport must be at least 6 months after the return date to be valid.

Donate

Complaints, complaints
